Where to send a letter to Santa or Father Christmas
Royal Mail runs a Letters to Santa service every year. Write this address clearly on the front of the envelope, exactly as it appears here.
Santa’s postcode is XM4 5HQ. Royal Mail addresses it to “Santa/Father Christmas”, so it is the same address whichever name your family uses. It doesn’t change from year to year, so one saved from a previous Christmas still works. What changes is the date to post by.

What to put in a letter to Santa
- Their name and how old they are.
- Something kind they did this year. Santa loves hearing about those.
- What they would love for Christmas, and maybe one thing for someone else.
- A question for Santa, Mrs Claus or the reindeer.
- A drawing, a thank you and their name at the bottom.

Will Santa write back?
Royal Mail’s Santa says he will try to reply to as many children as possible, so a reply isn’t guaranteed. Posting before Wednesday 9 December 2026, with a stamp and your child’s name and address on the back, gives them the best chance.
Royal Mail can arrange Braille, large print and British Sign Language replies. Email santamail@royalmail.com to ask. Children can also write in Welsh, to Sion Corn, Ogof Sion Corn, Gwlad Y Ceirw, XM4 5HQ.

When will Santa’s reply arrive?
Royal Mail doesn’t publish a date for replies. Its Santa says he will reply to as many children as he can while he gets ready for Christmas Eve, so posting early, well before 9 December, is the best thing you can do.
What if my child doesn’t get a reply?
It happens, because Royal Mail can’t promise a reply to every letter. Some families write the reply themselves and leave it somewhere to be found, or say Santa’s answer will come with the presents.
