How to lay out a letter to Santa

Your address
Top right. It’s how grown-up letters begin, and there’s a space for it on the sheet.
The date
Just under your address.
The greeting
“Dear Santa,” on the left, with a comma after it.
The opening
Say hello. Ask how the reindeer are, or tell Santa it’s nearly Christmas at your house.
The middle
A short paragraph for each idea: something you did this year, a question, and what you’d love for Christmas.
The ending
Thank Santa for reading, then “Love from,” with your name underneath.

Sending it to Santa

Royal Mail asks for a stamp on the envelope, and the child’s full name and address on the back so Santa knows where to reply. Santa says he will try to reply to as many children as possible, so a reply isn’t guaranteed.

Post your letter by Wednesday 9 December 2026.

How do we post it to Santa?

Put it in an envelope addressed to Santa/Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ, with a stamp and your child’s full name and address on the back. Royal Mail asks for letters to be posted by Wednesday 9 December 2026.

Will Santa write back?

Royal Mail’s Santa says he will try to reply to as many children as possible, so a reply isn’t guaranteed.
