Tips for making it easy
- Chunky crayons or felt tips are easier than pencils for colouring the pictures.
- Keep it to one short sitting. You can always add a drawing later.
- If they want to say more, write their exact words on the back.
- A handprint or painted fingerprint makes a lovely signature.

- A star to colour for Nice, Mostly nice or Super nice.
- Eight toys to tick, from a teddy to a surprise.
- A box for a picture and a space for their mark.
Sending it to Santa
Royal Mail asks for a stamp on the envelope, and your child’s full name and address on the back so Santa knows where to reply. Santa says he will try to reply to as many children as possible, so a reply isn’t guaranteed.

Questions from parents
What age is the picture letter for?
It suits children from about 2 to 5, or anyone who isn’t writing on their own yet. Older children can use our lined letter to Santa instead.
Can I write on it for them?
Yes. Write their name for them, and if they want to say more, write their exact words on the back. Santa loves hearing it in their own words.
What if my child can’t write their name?
A scribble, a handprint or a painted fingerprint all count. That’s why the sheet says “my name or my mark”.
How do we post it to Santa?
Put it in an envelope addressed to Santa/Father Christmas, Santa’s Grotto, Reindeerland, XM4 5HQ, with a stamp and your child’s full name and address on the back. Royal Mail asks for letters to be posted by Wednesday 9 December 2026.
Will Santa write back?
Royal Mail’s Santa says he will try to reply to as many children as possible, so a reply isn’t guaranteed.
